I have been a 1and1 customer for 3 years now and have not noticed any down time, lost e-mail or other issues related to reliability that I have seen posted here. Now, I use the Linux service because windows based servers are a horror show to operate reliably (I know people like them, but I have worked directly with windows servers for years and know of what I speak). Their e-mail client is crap, but if you use an e-mail client like Notes or Outlook, who cares because you never see the webmail client anyway.

I continue to purchase domains and hosting plans from 1 and 1. Their prices are super, but the customer service is what hooked me. I own close to 1,000 domains and have dealt with many registrars. 1 and 1 is the ONLY company, which has consistently provided quick, efficient support. There site is not as user-friendly as others; it took me a lot longer to learn their system. However, because of their prices and superior customer service, I did not mind. The communication, service, and support are definitely superior to all (and there are many) registrars I have used. I do hope they start holding auctions on their site. My only complaint is having to sell via an affiliate (note singular). I dislike this very much. But again, their support team has been receptive to all input. Overall, their support has been impressive. 1 and 1 continues to be the only company who provides service AND appreciates a customer.

I have been with 1and1 hosting for over a year now and I must say I am very pleased with most of their services. I see that some people say they are having problems with uptime and so on, but if you’ll check so is with other hostings reviewed here. Off course you can expect for some times for the servers to go down, it’s technology, they simply crap sometimes – but it’s better than what i had before. I have identified these probs as well, but they are not often as some would believe. Price doesn’t go up from year to year as one was saying here..Overall I am happy with the space and traffic I get in my plan at the price I pay. Before moving here I was having an account with GoDaddy, and I was alawys having probs there with speed – the website was loading really slow, but now this is solved. I am more than happy with the speed. The only inconvenient I would remind here about 1and1 is the limit of 100 Mb for their databases, a problem for big websites.

I have been using 1and1 MS Business Package for more than 4 years. It has competative price. Software easy to use for developing a fist website with auto generated html files. Develop with on .Net application is also easy to deploy. Since they gave 3 domain names forMS Business Package only $9.99/month. You can create 3 domain name swith html based easily. However, for .Net application, I so far can make only one work. No matter I create different directories with different dll and web.config files in different folder and assign them to 2 extra domain names, it always run the first domain’s default.aspx.

Nice. I got 5 free domains with my Developer Hosting plan + I didn’t have to pay for the domain privacy feature. I also got about $900 worth of free software and $400+ worth of free pay per click marketing voucher to help me kick start traffic to my sites.I have lost domains before because I forgot to renew them, so I like the default ‘auto-renew’ feature (maybe I set a couple to not autorenew later). My needs are modest, so I think 1and1 will workout just fine for me.Tim

Love the space, extra’s, great software and easy to use add-ins, but early this year they had to discontinue FrontPage extensions on Linux servers. So I switched to Microsoft Servers and found out that later this year (2008), that will also no longer be available. I know MS no longer supports, however, you can still leave your servers to accept the extensions – other hosts do. I’m going with Yahoo for space (GoDaddy is better price if you don’t need more than 150 GB space). But Yahoo I think I can trust, but I’ll first be sure they have no intentions to discontinue FP extenstions. It’s so much faster to save work, less hassle than having to FTP, and setting all pictures again correctly. Frontpage does it fast & quick online as I work.
