I moved a couple of sites to 1&1 a year ago. They are CGI intensive and were performing very poorly at another large hosting company. Performance at 1&1 has been fantastic. I had to make some changes to the site’s coding because 1&1 does a few obscure things differently than the old hosting company. This required several calls to tech support to get the details nailed down. They answered the phone promptly and quickly got the information I needed. They were not brilliant, but definitely above average. I’m happy with their service. They also have many pages of online help. Online help is a bit tough to navigate so I usually use their search box and then read through the list of hits. This could be better, but when you get to the right page you will find good, detailed information.I’m puzzled by the many carping reviews. I know what bad support looks like and 1&1 is not like that. Perhaps the people doing the complaining need to think about how they contributed to the problem.
